loulou09 0 Posted March 10, 2009 Officially joining you all today after looking through every day for the last 2 weeks. Love all the before and after pics - some of you have done extremely well. Any hints on how to prevent the saggy skin? :tt2: I am seeing surgeon on Thursday am when they should give me date for the Lapband surgery. :cool2: I think I am excited - but nervous too, hmmm. Would love to know if you got your chance again, would you do it again? Looking forward to chatting with you all. Lou
jakeblues63 0 Posted March 10, 2009 Congrats on your commitment. I think saggy skin is more associated with rapid weight loss versus the slower route of the lapband. But it depends on how much you have to lose as well. My readings on this topic tell me that when you lose weight at the rate of the 1 to 2 lbs a week, your body has an easier time naturally tighting the skin, and exercise will help too. I was banded Jan 12, 2009 and from my first consult to present have lost 46lbs and I don't have a big issue with saggy skin yet. In my readings as well they say to let your body do as much as it can before anyone should consider any procedure that requires removal of excess skin. Things are slow in the first month or two while your body adjusts and heals so the best is to try and stay as active as you can, be patient with yourself and your progress and drink as much Water as you can. Good luck.
loulou09 0 Posted March 10, 2009 Thanks Jake Very reassuring. I suppose that is the least of my problems, I need to get the weight off first then I may not even be fussed by the skin, I will just be so relieved, and so much more comfortable. 46 pounds, thats 20kgs in my language  an enormous amount, although only a third of what I need to lose. Congratulations, I am sure that if I lost that much I would be jumping up and down, because I could I am planning on doing as much exercise as I can. Good luck with your journey.
