Just banded 02/19/09

Recommended Posts

Hi I was banded on 02/19/09. I've lost 20 pounds. The hardest things for me is the diet you have to follow I did not know that it would be this hard. I'm confused on what I should eat plus I miss eating real food. I want to chew my food and I'm just sick of the creamy mushy foods. Can someone please tell me how you made it through these first few weeks? I know it will get better but it just sucks while your having to go through it.

hello! i was banded on 02/11/09. I am now onto the last stage of the diet before the real deal begins. during the mushie stage i ate ALOT of Beans. also i ate yogurt, Jello, Soups, and i even ate some red meat (but chewed it very well) and lots of mashed potatoes. you WILL get thru it! i thought it would never end, but im now on the last stage of the diet, and i am so relieved that i made it! :]

Lane77, the only thing you can do is try to get some variety in your diet. It does suck, there's no way around that, but it is oh so worth it.

Just hang in there and keep your eye on the prize!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
