blondie2 0 Posted March 9, 2009 Hello all, I am about 2 and a half weeks post-op and I am getting very confused as I read some of these posts. I am officially on Mushies! And have maybe lost 1 pound since the surgery. I have been following the post op religiously! Why have some people lost up to 12-15 pounds before their first fill? I am not scheduled to get a fill until mid- april. can anyone help me?
debbie_7155 0 Posted March 9, 2009 everyone is different & you shouldnt go by what others are losing that you should be losing the same, you say you dont go for your first fill til mid april, that gives you time to lose more weight than you have already, I get my first fill April 22nd, over here you wait about 12 weeks after surgery.. thats a long time, so im giving it all i can on my own to lose weight until i get my fills... The weight will cme off you, your still recovering from your surgery for the first 6 weeks.. good luck in your new journey
coloradobanding 5 Posted March 9, 2009 Don't get discouraged! It takes approx. 6 weeks for your body to adjust and heal from the surgery. I was banded 1/19 and only lost 4lbs until last week when it finally starting showing and coming off. And let me tell you, I worked out every day and watched every calorie that went into my mouth and nada. It does get hard during this time, which is why it's called Bandster Hell. Hang in there, and remember this time is for healing not losing. In fact, my Dr. told me I would likely GAIN weight until my 1st fill (I didn't, but was prepared for it). You're doing great, keep up the good work. Remember this is a life change and it will take your body and mind a little while to adjust, try (not easy) to be patient. Illiana 1 Posted March 9, 2009 Hang in there! I was banded on june 23rd 2008 and it was a long slow and careful road to get my fills right..and im almost to the right band setting. ur body is HEALING...dont be hard on yourself! do what the doc says and give your self a pat on the back for taking control of your life! Im 61lbs down..and i fight food craving daily..and sometimes i lose...but anything is better than being the weight i was before! YOU CAN DO IT! DO NOT FEEL DISCOURAGED! Saundra 0 Posted March 9, 2009 While my Dr said I was the one in pain and the one starving during fluids and mushies, the weight that I lost I didn't truely get credit for. It wasn't as if it was me and my band working together. A lot of it is Water weight and differant people have differant amounts to loose. Once your swelling is down and your own reg foods then its up to you to attempt to control the scale till you get your fills. I've lost and gained and won't get my first fill till next Mondat so right now I'm just doing my best to adjust to 4 ouces 3 - 4 times a day. I keep wishing the scale moved faster and even have to remind myself I was told if I wanted to loose overnight this was the wrong surgery. Hang in there it happens. I'm seeing the scales move a bit and now I feel like I can take a little credit for it. I can't wait till its me and my band working together. I had a lot of water weight and once it was lost the scales froze. I think I would have rather seen it come off slow that 20lbs to gaining some back. Bandster Hell is so appropriate. KarenK 0 Posted March 9, 2009 In fact, my Dr. told me I would likely GAIN weight until my 1st fill (I didn't, but was prepared for it). I wish I had been told this. I ended up losing, but was giving myself a pretty hard time about how slowly it was happening. I would have cut myself a break if they had told me before I went in for that first fill. As it was they told me at my first fill that they were surprised I didn't gain.
