I had my second fiil on February 26. Felt restricted right away. NOW....I am feeling much more restricted. I am able to eat solid food (if chewed to mush). However, I can feel the restriction when I drink liquids. Sometimes it feels like even Water gets stuck!!! This happens mostly in the morning. Afternoon and evenings are better. Any suggestions or anyone else have this happen? I just had about 1 cup of cottage cheese and was able to eat it fine, but definitely feel the restriction.

If it feels like Water is getting stuck you may need an unfill. However, if you are happy with the restriction and able to eat your Protein (or drink) then sounds OK.

We were discussing this very subject two weeks ago at my clinic fill. My Doc and his wife just got back from a convention and this was a hot topic as well. From what I understood they seem to think that the band is tighter in the mornings for a lot of their patients. They have not totally figured out why as of yet, but pressure differences seems to be a possible culprit. This would be why some of us are tighter in the morning and as the day wears on and the pressure changes we are less tight. Still though you should call your Doc and ask what he/she things. As it has been stated before you may be overfilled. I just thought the conversation was interesting and thought I would pass it on.

Much luck to you

This actually sounds good. If you are able to eat the food once chewed to mush, and you can drink Water? It means that the band is actually working, and the placement is good. I would love to know who did your surgery.

As far as the morning tightness, that is normal with the band, and as another user addressed, there are many factors that could cause that, however, if you are losing weight, and happy, it seems to me that the band is adjusted perfectly. Watch out for the psychological factor, you take a sip of water, you may feel the restriction, you panic (just a little) and cause your muscles to tighten up and restrict even more. Relax, breathe, and enjoy the small portions:smile:

I just had my fourth fill and finally feeling very restricted and concerned that I might be overfilled. But I have been able to get my Water in. Have been able to drink my Protein Shakes and chew my multi-vitamins, so I'm with WeBand and not going to complain for a while at least. I've been told that as you lose the band loosens up, so I'm gonna wait a bit more and enjoy the smaller portions for now.

Hi, I got 1st fill today & in the doctor office, drinking the Water was kind of difficult. he put in 4cc I don't know if that's normal or what. After I got home, It was not hard to drink Soup even with a little Pasta in it so now I'm wondering if I got filled enough. I'll give it a few days & see if I feel restriction & if not maybe I'll try & go back & get more put in.

i was too tight after my second fill, could manage Water and very thin Soup but nothing more solid and when it hadn't settled after a week I had to go back for a small unfill.

I feel so much better for not being so tight and am glad I didn't carry on being too tight.

Not to sound stupid or anything, just haven't been banded yet to experience, but can you really feel all of this happening on a daily basis.

I was banded 2/14/08. I am only up to 1.7cc of saline in my fill. My band is always tighter in the morning and sometimes until dinner. My doctor told me many of his patients are like this, they have to drink both Breakfast and lunch and then can eat solids by dinner time. As long as you can drink your Protein at breakfast and lunch and eat some solids at dinner without throwing up you are fine.

Well I was gonna tough it out before going back into the doctor, but last night things got so bad I was puking up Water. Came into the office and made an appointment. of course by the time I got to the doctor's office, I was feeling better. He said it sounded like I had gotten something stuck that took awhile to work it's way out. But I told him if I sipped water it was fine, but if I tried to take a swig, it was like trying to swallow a golf ball. So he went ahead and took out .6 cc's. I am now at 6.4 cc's in a 10 cc band. I feel like maybe I'm too loose now, but I haven't really eaten any hard Protein yet so I'm not gonna stress. I still have more in my band than I did last week so I'm going to relax and continue with my meal planning and focus on less soft protein and more hard protein to get me full faster.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
