Hi all -

My name is Christie and I had lap band surgery on 12-18-08 - so far I have lost almost 20 lbs. It is nice to be on this website with folks that are anticipating having it done and folks who have had it done - this is great support I think. I love my lapband and I would do it again and again!

Good for you ! I was just banded March 2nd and I hope I can have the same success. I see the Dr. tomorrow for my follow up so I'm excited to see if I have lost any weight.

Good on you both!!! How are you finding it? I imagine it would be a bit overwhelming! What was going under like?

So far so good for me. I follow up with the Dr. today. Going under for me was ok, they just gave me something in my IV and I woke up when it was all done. My throat was irritated from the tube and I wasn't allowed to drink anything till the next day, but it was ok.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
