Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

After a long time of considering getting the lap band I have finally deided YEP Im off and away. Am being banded on May 14th and a little frightened as Ive never had surgery before (am really scared of dying ) I have been reading a number of posts on the forum everyone seems so caring of one another its great to know that people are out there that care :cool2:

I have to lose a fair bit of weight, I know its going to take a while but Im so excited about it aswell. The thought of losing weight is just (oh my god Im lost for words):)

Hope to get to know everyone!!!

Trish

You will do fine through your surgery, there is nothing to be afraid of, you will be asleep, and when you wake you will be sore for awhile but will be given pain medication to make that discomfort tolerable. I am having my surgery on March 25th, but this is not the first surgery for me, I have had my share. You will be fine and welcome to the site.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
