Anyone else paranoid?

Recommended Posts

This is my second time around (revision surgery)...and I still can't help being paranoid! I've had 2 esophograms since surgery (one day after - standard, and one a week after, also standard for revision surgery), and both were perfect. Yet I drink and I think that it's not going down the way it should. I know it has to be all in my head but I am just so nervous! How could anything have gone wrong? I'm 8 days out and have had only Water, broth, and thinned out carnation instant breakfast...

I wonder sometimes if everything is ok too. But I am going to go with my gut... no pun intended... and trust the process. Have some faith and tell your mind to be quiet. The tests came back fine and you will do great!!!!

Hi.

I had my surgery on the 24th and I too am pretty nervous about what I'm eating, have I done anything wrong, whether or not i've made the band slip, you name it. I can't see that it's rational though because I'm following my dr.'s instructions exactly.

But still, I'm worried. I feel your pain.

ebar...

What procedure did you revise from to the band? I am in the process of beginning my revision surgery process. I've already been debanded but I was too paranoid to revise during my removal surgery. I felt as if since the first surgery didn't work none would work and I didn't want to put myself through it physically as well as emotionally. I suppose your feelings are probably normal and you'll get through it. Good luck with your revision, Nancy:smile:.

I discovered a few weeks ago that I had a band slip because I couldn't keep any food down...so I went in and sure enough that's what it was. They scheduled me right away to reposition the band.

Believe me, the thought crossed my mind that I should just take it out and do this on my own...and I was upset that I had to go through another surgery, and what if this happened again, etc, etc, etc...but in the end I just told myself that without this band, I would STILL be hovering near 400 pounds and so if it took a 2nd surgery to get this thing working again and help me to knock off the weight, then that's what's going to have to happen.

I wish you the best of luck with your revision surgery process...everything will work out great. :)

I am feeling better today...it's just the littlest things and I begin freaking out...lol...

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
