I was banded on jan 8th by Dr Naim In los Angeles..Great Doctor...I lost 13 lbs the first week and went in for my first fill on feb 6th ( total 3cc in a 10cc band). I lost at total of 16lbs and since my first fill, nothing...

I am going in tomorrow march 6th for another fill, but i have to say that I am depressed..it's been 2 months and I don't see much result..I eat more that I was expecting..started to go to the gym 3 times a week...

Is there anyone out there who was banded the same day? I need help...what's wrong with me? :cursing:

Hello kurns. First off, congrats on your weightloss. For many of us, it takes several fills before we really get restriction, so try to be patient (I know it's difficult). Exercising will help a great deal. Also, now is the time to start working on the games our heads can play with us: Put small portions on your plate, take small bites of them, chew throughly (even more than you think you need to), and eat slowly. Remember, the goal is not to continue eating until you feel stuffed, but until you feel "not hungry". Hang in there kurns....with more fills it will get a little easier. Good luck!

I was banded on 1/14/09 and had my first fill on 2/23/09. I have been very disappointed with my fill, as I have felt no real restriction. On a positive note, I have lost 4 pounds since the fill. There is NOTHING wrong with you kurns78. It will take several fills before you truly have restriction. Just make sure you are watching what you are eating and getting all your Protein. I think my saving grace has been the exercise. I must admit that I don't always eat the things that I should, but I make sure I am in the gym 4-5 times per week. I get my next fill on 3/23/09 and hope it is better than the first one. Don't be discouraged! Just look at those 16 pounds you have lost so far as weight you will never see again. Be blessed!

I've had five fills since being banded in June. Finally, after my last fill last week, at 6.5 cc I'm getting the restriction I was expecting and now the weight loss is ridiculous! I've lost 5 lbs in 5 days! I do exercise vigorously 5-6 days a week for about an hour and I do eat 1100-1300 calories (22-26 WW points) a day.

Everyone is different. Some need almost no fills, some need a lot. We are not all the same. Be patient and use this time to develop positive habits. Expect some plateaus and some weeks where you gain a little. When you go in for a fill, be honest with the Doctor about how much you are eating so he can judge how much saline to use. You'll get to that sweet spot eventually. I'm not sure yet, but I may be at mine.

God Bless!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
