Munequita 0 Posted March 5, 2009 Did anyone experience a panic attack before surgery? if yes, were they able to give you something to relax?:cursing:
ValJean 6 Posted March 5, 2009 Yes and yes--I was panicked and crying by the time the anesthesiologist came in--really freaking out. She put in my IV and gave me something that calmed me right down. I don't know what it was, but within a minute or two my tears had dried up and I was like "Let's do this!" Not sure if they give that to everyone or not, but you should ask your anesthesiologist before your surgery date. Good luck! Val

Vickie 0 Posted March 6, 2009 Wow--When I had mine done they asked me what was wrong and I said I am so scared. They are hooking up the monitors and the guy says YES you sure are scared. I guess from the rate of my heart beat and blood pressure but I don't think they did anything unusual as far as calming me down. If you are subject to a real panic attack you best tell your doctor because from what I understand A REAL PANIC ATTACK imitates a heart attack and you sure don't want them to be mislead. I would talk to my doctor immediately.

WPA 0 Posted March 6, 2009 I didn't sleep much the night before I got my band (worried that I would fail and have to have the band removed), but on the day of surgery, February 2, 2008, I was at peace with myself. I am really pleased with the results. Including my pre-surgery diet, I have lost 45 lbs, but the best news is that I no longer taking any medicines. I was taking 125 units of insulin per day; I have not taken any in over two weeks and my BG reading run between 95 and 110. I really feel great.
Munequita 0 Posted March 6, 2009 Thank you WPA. I'm counting my days, but I too am afraid that I'm going to fail. After a year of being banded, you haven't experienced any bad side effects or complications?
