Hey, I totally know how you feel being at a standstill post-surgery.

I lost 17lbs in the three weeks prior to my surgery (two of those weeks being my pre-op liquid stage) and then another 7lbs post-op.

Once I was able to eat mushy foods, my weight loss halted. I found I was able to eat a lot more than I thought I could and I was starving all the time.

The nurses and staff told me not to freak out that it was normal for this to happen and that when I came in for my first fill I would be better. Well, I did end up losing another 2 lbs in the three weeks before my first fill, which wasn't too horrible.

However, I had my first fill last week and I have lost 3lbs since then. It feels wonderful knowing that I am now at a comfortable pace. My portion sizes are significantly smaller than what I was eating pre-band. I haven't really deprived myself of anything (I haven't been eating junk food, but I never was a big junk food person) and I am thrilled with my loss. Also, not going to lie here, I have not worked out nearly as much as I should have been.

Since my weigh in three weeks before surgery (about 7 weeks ago) I have lost 30lbs. Don't make yourself nuts with the scale and remember that weight can fluctuate a few lbs each day because of things like Water retention and time of day you weigh. I stopped weighing myself in between my one week post-op visit and my 1st fill because I knew I was going to lose my mind if I did.

Just keep focused and know that when you get that first fill you will feel a lot better, I know I did.

Hi new to this site. I was banded 2/9/09 Thank god I thought I was the only one who was going through this, I've only lost 7pd just maintaining my weight right now. I was feeling like such a failure know I feel a little better but I'm always hungry I have to fight the urges I'm hoping the first adjustment will help me feel fuller. Are you feeling hungry all the time like me even eating small meals through out the day.

OMG yes!! I'm always hungry! I try my best to eat right and eat slowly but like right after work or during lunch I tend to eat quickly because of the time and end up losing half of it. I don't know... I hope it gets better.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
