First fill March 2, 2009

Recommended Posts

:blush:I am new to this, just registered. Hello to all. My surgery date was January 29th and I had my first fill on March 2nd. I had nothing in my band from surgery. Is this normal to not feel any different with a fill as to not having any fill at all? I know it has only been a few days and this is not going to be a "quick fix" but I was looking for more results than this and am getting discouraged. I have been thinking that I could have just starved and ate a cup of food at each meal without having to have had this surgery. Any suggestions from anyone??? I was told that I am the only one out of all the patients that has complained of still being hungry.

I tried that....the whole only eating a cup of food a day. My best friend had the gastric sleeve. At that time, I wasnt financially able to do the surgery. So I told her that I would simply eat what she eats. Well here I sit, still fat and she is almost 100 pounds lighter!!!

Good news though, today I finally got approved for my loan and should be scheduled for my band next month!!! Hang in there. I have no advice about the hunger part but i can suspect the fill will help with that.

GOOD LUCK!

Yes, it is very normal to not feel a difference after your first fill. For me, it was a couple of weeks later after that first one before I noticed a difference. Some people don't even ever need a fill, while others need more and more. I'm at 6.5 cc and now think I am nearing my sweet spot. My doctor is conservative when giving fills and will only do 1 cc at a time. That works for me, I'm in no hurry. So really there is no "normal" when it comes to fill levels because we are all so very different. Just be patient.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
