edgeuk8tr 0 Posted March 5, 2009 Tonight, I went on BC's website to check my status, and it shows "disallowed". Does this mean I have no chance? I was expecting either "approved" or "denied", so I'm not sure what to make of disallowed? I've put in a message to my dr's insurance nurse, and I'm sure she'll get back to me tomorrow, but I needed to vent somewhere that I knew I would be understood. I can't fall asleep and I'm so upset. All this after loosing the required 10% and doing all of the other requirements. Today, I had the pre-op class teaching me how to eat before and after the band, and have my surgery consult Monday. They told me to start the pre-surgery healthy eating diet tomorrow (shake for Breakfast, tiny lunch/dinner), then I'd start all shakes 2 weeks before surgery. OH, FWIW, My hubby works for Bridgestone, and he carries the insurance since I'm a stay at home mom. Thanks for listening. Twana
edgeuk8tr 0 Posted March 5, 2009 Ok, Called insurance this morning and they said it was denied because the dr's records didn't prove it to be medically necessary. So, we just need to submit more. Whew, I can sleep tonight.

GuyMontag 1,264 Posted March 5, 2009 The only real unpenetrable roadblock for the insurance company is when it's in your exclusions on your policy. If your policy doesn't specifically exlude weight loss surgery then you should be able to appeal or take other steps to get this taken care of. Good luck!
