Most or Almost everyting sticks on the way down????

Recommended Posts

I was banded on Dec.15th and am doing pretty well except after my second fill I can't get alot of foods down. They seem to stick in my chest. I can eat the soft and I mean very soft stuff....cottage cheese, eggs etc. But if I try to eat meat even cut the size of an eraser after two bites I have to wait about 20 minutes for these small pieces to go down. I have had a couple of PB'ing episodes. Help:mellow: What am I doing wrong? I don't want to have any Fluid taken out of the band because I am loosing about 4 lbs a week.

Thanks:laugh:

Patti,

when did you get your fill? If it was more than a couple of weeks ago and you're still only able to eat soft foods and not hard Protein, you're probably too tight. You may be losing right now but if all your can stomache is soft foods, you're not going to be able to get enough food down and will eventually have trouble losing more.

You don't have to have HEAPS taken out - even a small unfill may be able to get you to a point where a cupful of hard Protein will keep you full for hours.

Happened to me twice. Once I needed an unfill and the other time I had to go back on liquids for 4 days, I think, cause they suspected it was just irritated. I did my 4 days of liquids and was just fine. That is just my experience, you may want to give liquids a try or check with your doc.

I do it too..I find if I stand up and eat this doesn't happen as much..4 pounds seems too much to be losing in a week, 2 pound's a week is the average. I actually lose about 10 pounds a month..

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
