Hello: I was banded on Feb. 19 and am struggling. The pain was more than I anticipated; complicated by pulling an internal stitch. When will the pain from the muscle incision go away? Also, it has been almost 2 weeks and I have not lost a single pound on 600 calories or less a day? Need some encouragement.

Relax and give yourself time to heal. The first few weeks are for healing; NOT weight loss. Even without complications it took a couple of weeks for me to feel back to normal again.

Make sure you are getting enough Water, and follow your doctors orders TO THE LETTER. There is little or no Fluid in the band right now so it's not working yet. Your band needs time to settle in and the sutures to heal that hold it in place. Rest as much as you can, and if your doctor allows, walk some each day.

I will say the first couple of months are the hardest, and the weight may not come off as fast as you want, but once you start getting fills and getting some restriction, you'll feel better and lose weight faster.

Be patient. You've just had major LIFE CHANGING surgery. By the summer you'll be feeling a whole lot better about things! Best of luck to you.

Hang in there! I too was banded on the 19th. The day after surgery I was seriously asking myself- "What the Hell did I do" But these two weeks have been rough for me also- I still have some internal pain when I move funny or sleep funny. I am also still on 2 Protein Shakes a day, 1-2 sf Jello, and lowfat cream Soup for dinner. I haven't lost any weight either. But I do somedays have terrible diarreha. Tomorrow is my 2- week check and I should go on mushies tomorrow! Let's keep in touch!

Olivia is absolutely correct.

Don't worry about weight loss right now~ this time is about healing your body!

Water & Protein are your best friends right now. 60 to 80 grams of protein a day is what you should shoot for.

Walk each day, and take it easy and heal. Stay away from the scale!! The weight loss will come, once your body has recovered! Be proud of yourself for taking such a big step!!

Hugs!

I was also banded on the 19th of February. The first week I lost 10 lbs and was so so very excited. Unfortunately, this last week I have only lost 1 lb. I am also discouraged that the weight is not coming off faster while only eating 600-800 calories a day. I was on the smaller end of weight going into surgery so I know the weight won't fall off as fast, but come on...1 lb a week!

Beth hang in there.. U will see the positive results soon enough. First of all you are in healing stage and i would say definatly focus on that right now. Weight loss probably wont be very successful until ur fills and get restriction although that is different for everyone. Just keep in mind you will be healthier you and while the scale isnt moving, you are becoming more healthy and more aware of the choices that you are putting into your body. Gl and stay motivated.

Thank you shellypaunts :crying: Congrats on ur weight loss

Thank you Olivia.

Autigerfan~ 1 to 2 pounds a week is considered healthy weight loss. The slower you lose, the less likely you are to gain it back! So, congrats, you are losing at a great rate!!!

Hugs,

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
