Hi Folks,

Just got back from the doctors and after a few hours of forms, rapid fire questions, poking, prodding and credit card charges we are moving forward. I weighted it at 373 lbs. with a 56.8 BMI and lean body mass of 206 lbs. This gives me a target weight of 240 based on a 20 BMI. So next steps are:

1. Read the patients manual

2. EKG and blood work the week of March 30, 2009

3. Lose 20 Lbs before the surgery date

4. Pre-op meetings and registration on April 21st

5. Surgery Date May 6th

I look forward to sharing this journey with you...

Shaun

Just figured out this ticker ......very excited.( the little things)....

Open up your "CP" tab to view your personal settings. Open up "your signature". Leave this open for a minute.

Now open up another internet connection for tickerfactory.com and create your ticker. Once finished and you are viewing your final product, you'll see "bb codes". Highlight the entire box of bb codes and right click your mouse and hit copy.

Now - go back to your signature box that's open and paste the entire bb code into the box abd hit save......that should do it. :)

I think I will be in May but I dont know for sure yet. I had heard if you were self pay it goes really fast so I was dreaming of getting it in April but who knows. I have been fighting the battle and losing it for twenty years and I finally admit I cant do it without some kind of intervention. I want to lose about 70 or 80 pounds and my BMI is 36 so that's why I have to self pay. I didnt have any comorbid conditions so insurance said no way! So I could gain myself up to a BMI of 40 (way too psychologically damaging for me) in order to qualify but I'm lucky I can afford to self pay. I think it will be worth it. When I get a date I'll let you all know. Cali

I am scheduled for May 21'st. It can't come soon enough! I am trying to get down to 280 by surgery. Gonna do the best I can.

Are we going to create a spiffy name for our group?

OK some potential names for the May 09 crew:

• May Marauders

• Mini Mays

• May Day Comrades

• May Day Trippers

• May Memorials

• May Miniatures

• The Mayans

• May Maia’s (May was named after the greek goddess Maia) May - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

• The Cinco de Mayo’s (I think this was used)

• May Raceways (The Indianapolis 500 is in May) Indianapolis 500 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

• May Speedway

• The Belatines (May 1st is the Irish start of summer) Beltane - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Here is list to start the debate 

Clever, How bout just mayo Banditos? (probably not proper Spanish) I should know for sure having lived in So Cal for 53 years, anyway it's shorter.

But I do think Minni Mays is hilarious.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
