Should I be scared ? I have not been banded and I don’t know what to think of this as crazy as this may sound I’m afraid of what the new me might be like ? I love the way I am now but I want to stay healthy for many more years and by my track record that wont be long if I don’t do something and soon . That is why I have begun this journey . But I’m like a puppy with my tail between my legs .. For years I have said I can do this by myself and I have but I have not had long term success

:)

I know what you mean. I am still waiting for approval. I am anxious and the waiting is hard then I remember why I want to do this...the sweetest two things in my life, Caleb and Caden, my grandsons. I have in the past "been there, done that, never got the t-shirt", done it on my own but always wind up in this same spot.

I know everyone here has been in the same place and will be a great source of help and information.

Good luck to you and remember, we can do this and we can do it together.

Aww thank you for your replay and your words mean so much . And I think if would be great to have someone to talk to about this . I love my family and they support whatever I do . But I have felt a little alone in it all . We talk about my surgery and stuff like that but they cannot relate to what I’m going threw and what is to come in the future . So I would love to have a buddy to talk to and relate to together we stand strong!

hi

i know you are nervous just talk with your doc about your concerns and remember the band is just a tool and for some it works slow until they figure out how to work it..

for me im amazed every day at how little food i need to live and feel healthy...i eat like a bird now and im happy with that..

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
