Hi all! Banded yesterday March 2nd!

I'm home and doing well....

the Dr and nurses said that the procedure went really well. and the dr said that my efforts to shrink my liver were not in vain! that i did a "good job". yeah!

my operation was at 1:00 and i left the hospital at 8:30 p.m.

i'm doing good now. drinking Water and crystal light. (fruit punch) which i don't really like. I want the premade and my mom got me the mix. i've made a request for some apple juice when everyone gets home....so my tastebuds are anticipating heaven! lol

My pain is not to bad,...just a bit sore. I'm on hydrocodene (15 mls every 4 hrs) and i don't take the promethaqzine anymore..i really didn't need it.

i just took off the big white elastic thingy for the first time, but i will put it on again soon. its just seems to hold things tight and comfortable.

i'm sleeping really well.

also my shoulders arent huritng like people said theirs did after surgery...i have no idea why.

i peiodically do my deep breathing (with that thingy that measures your breaths). but my first time doing that at the hospital after surgery i was already at the same level as i was pre op. the respritory therapist was plesantly surprised.

So with the Lords help i will have a plesant recovery and catch up on some books/movies i've been wanting to read/see.

If any of you have advice, that would be great....and much appreciated.

OH i know... i havent purchased a multi Vitamin yet...should i be taking a vitamin with Calcium? or should i take a vitamin and a calcium pill?

One thing for sure...i cannot wait to be able to be on full liquids....i have a feeling that this last week of Clear Liquids is going to be killer on me.

thanks agiana to all for any and all advice you have for me!

As far as the Vitamins. Talk to your doctor to find out what he/she wants you to take. I was and still am required to take a two multi-chewable vitamins and two calcium chews. Plus, I take a whole lot of other vitamins that I won't get into here.

But your doctor will know what is best for you.

I am glad to hear your recovery is going well.

Congrats!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
