Hey everyone.. Im getting banded in May, im from Australia and not sure if the whole process is different down under, but this website has been soooo helpful for me..Its so good to read other peoples stories and feelings about their addiction to food..Any advice out there as to processes to take prior to surgery?Should I be trying to lose weight now?or wait till the 2 weeks pre op diet???

Welcome to LapBandTalk!

I don't know how the process works in Australia, but if you aren't going to be penalized for being too small by losing weight -- which happens in the US to some people, believe it or not -- then I say go for it! Not so much "trying to lose weight" as "starting to make the post-op lifestyle changes as a pre-op". This will have the side-effect of losing weight, but the goal is to learn to chew slowly, not drink with meals, get enough Water in, take your Vitamins, etc. Any new habit you can get pre-op, is one less then to worry about post-op.

That's what I did and I'm really glad I did because post-op was *still* quite the adjustment.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
