happypatty 0 Posted March 2, 2009 I had lap band surgery in December, 2008. Things are going pretty well, but it's like I'm on my own and don't know a lot about what to expect. I just found this site and am enjoying reading about the experiences of others. I just read that I am not supposed to chew my food more than 30 times. Is that true? debbie_7155 0 Posted March 2, 2009 i was banded 21st jan 08 & my nutrition told me to chew chew chew my foods, i chew my foods 100 times per bite.. welcome to the forum
kiz 1 Posted March 2, 2009 (edited) I would estimate I chew about 30 times, depending on what I'm eating. My doctor warned me not to over chew and liquefy my food because that would make my food go right through my band and not stay in my pouch long enough to satisfy my hunger. You need to find the consistency that works for you, but 30 sounds about right for me. Edited March 2, 2009 by kiz
debbie_7155 0 Posted March 2, 2009 i think kiz is right, it depends on what foods you are eating, i guess i am very lucky cos ive tried most foods & i struggle sometimes to eat my next meal as i am still full from my last, ive tried chewing less but it doesnt sit comfortable with me, so i guess i must be doing something right for myself with the weight coming off
