Connorsmom 1 Posted March 2, 2009 Help Something has happened with my band - I did great with my pregnancy and gained about 20 lbs - still had restriction after he was born - all of of sudden - nothing - no restriction - I can totally eat like I did pre-band - as soon as I stopped breastfeeding in November - the weight just came on. My doctor thinks I have either an erosion or my tube disconnected! I have gained 30+ in 9 months!!!
coloradobanding 5 Posted March 2, 2009 It sounds like you need a fill, probably should have had one months ago. Don't freak out, go see your doc and get a fill!
MyDay2Shine 1 Posted March 2, 2009 Have you seen your surgeon or your primary doc? Has your doc discussed the next steps to figuring out what is wrong? Are you scheduled for a scope to check for erosion? If your doc thinks there is a problem then I'm guessing you have already tried a fill? Sorry I'm all questions and no answers! HeatherO 7 Posted March 2, 2009 I guess what concerns me is that your doctor "thinks" but doesn't know. An erosion is serious and I think you would definitely be having some other problems other than just lack of restriction. Also, if your port is disconnected or leaking, that can easily be tested by going in for a fill and attempting to withdraw Fluid . . . or adding Fluid and then attempting to withdraw it and check volumes a short time later. If this started in November and it is now March, you should have been seen and diagnosed by now. I would suggest scheduling an appointment as soon as possible. You can never get better unless you find out what is going on and start addressing it.
Connorsmom 1 Posted March 3, 2009 I should have mentioned that I have an appointment for a flouroscopy fill on the 27th to find out what is going on. What are the symptoms of a leak?
TQUAD64 9 Posted March 4, 2009 I should have mentioned that I have an appointment for a flouroscopy fill on the 27th to find out what is going on. What are the symptoms of a leak? Missing Fluid from the band can be cause for a leak. Does your doctor pull the fill out to see what is left. Have you experienced missing Fluid? My next appointment for a fill will be under flouro as well, since I have small amounts of fill missing and can eat a great deal of food at a sitting. However, my overall food consumption is much less than before the band.
