porclndoll 0 Posted August 19, 2005 Jenna~ Have you ever been to Salem? My Dad and I went when I was younger. This is an absolutely beautiful town~~ There is a park in the center of town that is fenced in with an Iron fence....We spent some time in there feeding the birds...that was relaxing. And some of the streets are still cobble stone....and the shops OH MY GOSH..You gotta go with your money boy! We went into a chamber that was used for the Witch Trials..and it depended on how much money the witches family had as to what size cell he/she had. (All thought there weren't very many men convicted of witchery) If you were poor, ohhhhh man...You were literally kneeling on the floor, your arms were completely at your side and your head was tilted. You couldn't sit, you couldn't move your head...it was horriable. If your family had a little money you were able to atleast stand up...If you were rich it was a regular jail cell...Well, you could stand there was a chair in there. Not nice accomodations, but better than kneeling. Then we went to a reinactment of a witch trial. Because this girl, she was 16, had a mole she was fingered as a witch. When her neighbors kids became sick, they blamed her and she was put to death for practising witch craft. Sad! There are burial grounds up there...places where they tell you people were buried upside down so their soul couldn't escape....sick stuff they did to the people at that time..But Salem is such a pretty town..I look forward to going back. Its about a 2 1/2 hour drive from where I am. PamRN 0 Posted August 19, 2005 I hate to try wrapping my mind around thoughts about those times, it makes my heart break to think of all those innocent people and the torture they endured. It's enough to make any caring person deeply sad. Intolerance of difference is downright shameful isn't it? On a lighter note I too love Halloween, I'm a late October baby so that might be part of it. My daughter and SIL are having their annual party, they are dressing up like Dog & Beth the bounty hunters... I'm still thinking on it.

beautifultina 1 Posted August 19, 2005 In Reno, Nv we have the Exotic Halloween Ball. It was soo cool!!! There were people dressed in barely anything and there were people dressed in fully elaborate costumes. I can hardly wait for this years' party! Maybe I will be small enought to look decent in a teddy and heels! With being in Nevada it was hard to tell if there were real hookers or just well costumed people, since prostitution is LEGAL in Nevada!
