Are you looking for the BariatricPal Store? Go now!

My lapband is scheduled for March 27!!

Recommended Posts

I am very excited! I have been preparing for this since October 2008. I think I am ready! I live here in South Florida and my surgeon is Dr Matei. Has anybody used him? He is with Dr Bass and Dr Cohen. At first I was a little hesitant because he is fairly new to this group. But, the other Surgeons in this group came highly recommended. I just want to be absolutely confident.

ALSO....

I just ordered over $100 in Protein powders. Will I use it all?

I've been trying them here and there. I am soo afraid that I won't eat and do all the right things before and after. I've been reading books and going on bariatriceating.com. But, I still feel like I am going to blow it. How can I be sure to do all the right things? (I think this is my nerves talking right now?) I am getting cold feet! Any suggestions?

Thank you:crying:

We are date twins! YAY for us! Congrats on getting your date! What date do you start your pre-op diet? My Dr. has said mine will consist of 2 protien drinks & 1 frozen meal a day. Is that similar to yours?

Congrats on getting your date! I'm a few days before you (23rd), but also started in October. Seems like it took forever!

I don't have much advice as per the Protein powder and eating right other than that you should be able to use the Protein supplements up, even once you're able to eat a decent amount of protein.

I do know that I've read so much, it's all getting jumbled. I'm a list person so I pretty much wrote out everything I've found on this site about what I'll need after surgery (liquid tylenol, types of Vitamins, different protein drinks/mixes, etc.). I found that it helped me sort things out a lot.

I've also got a shopping list going of what I'm going to buy a few days before I head in for surgery so my house will be stocked with my first 2 weeks of food supply and any meds, etc. I'll need.

Anyway, congrats and good luck. I'm a little nervous as well but it's a good, excited nervous.

Megster-twin,

I haven't heard of any frozen meals. I was just told to eat Protein and veggies with limited carbs. I will be doing a Full liquid diet starting March 20, Clear liquid March 26 and surgery March 27. I wish you lots of luck. Let me know how you progress.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
