anyone plateau on the 7-day clear liquid diet?

Recommended Posts

I was losing about 3 pounds a day for the first 4-5 days on the clear liquid diet and have hit a plateau! I've lost 15 pounds since the Dr. office a couple weeks ago--that's 15 pounds in 6 days. Even though I've stuck to the diet I don't seem to be dropping any more weight. Is this OK? Has anyone else experienced this?

Its normal. I look on it as though the body needs to rebalance and catchup. 15 pounds in 6 days is a lot of weight to lose.

For me if I lose more than about 10 or so pounds in a month I plateau. Say I lose 10 pounds in 2 weeks then I wont lose anything for 2 to 4 weeks.

You will do fine. Give it a few days. And if you haven't had your surgery yet you may gain some weight back from the IV and swelling right after you surgery. Remember, slow and steady wins the race.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
