My question is, can you feel your port when you touch your stomach? Is the port visable through the skin?

The answers are yes and yes.I can feel it as a hard spot under my skin and it appears as a dark spot about the size of a quarter.

I can see a slight protrusion of the port and I know it's there when I exercise I can feel it pull, sometimes it is a slight discomfort but not any pain. I am six months from surgery.

It doesn't bother me really it's like a badge of honor for me LOL

My scars are still healing, and the port is not on your stomach, it's under your breast, (my left one) to the side.

I can't see mine and don't mash around to feel it (and it isn't usually in the "stomach" area...mine is under my left breast, different docs place them differently)

My doctor said in obese people often finding the port is a challenge but when I lose enough for it to show he'll gladly put a low profile port in for me!

I have heard a lot of people say their port is under a breast. I am pretty sure mine is right by my belly button. That is where my biggest scar is and it gives me the most pain. I don't have any scars under my breast. I can't feel or see mine.

I definitely can't see mine. I can only feel it if I'm laying on my back and raise my head up a little to sort of push my stomach muscles out. I've lost 50 lbs and have 35 to go. I hope the port stays tucked away, although if it doesn't, I'll consider a small bump a great trade for obesity.

FWIW, I have a low profile port. It's just left of center a little more than an inch below my ribcage. My doctor said it could move up a little as I get closer to goal.

Mine's easy to feel - in fact you can feel the tubing too until it disappears into the muscle. Its also easily visible. I do have a weird pocket of loose skin on my upper middle abdomen which I suspect must be from pregnancy as that's the only time I've ever had a really big stomach. If I ever get that fixed, my port will be REALLY visible - through clothing too I'd imagine.

Once you lose the body fat, the port is going to show, there's no real way round that. But when I say visible, I'm happy enough to put on a bikini, people need to be lookign right at and for it to really notice it.

Hi:

My port is just under my rib cage in the middle. I can definitely feel it when I feel for it. It is not visible at all and I'm very close to goal. I'm sure it depends on where and how deep they position it. This part of my body is pretty flat now so I don't think it will show when I attain my goal.

I love my band!

Sue

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
