Did anyone stay the same size after a LBL?

Recommended Posts

I had a lbl at the end of January and I am wearing the same size I know that they removed 15 pounds of skin, but its very frustrating to be in the same size. I was wondering if anyone else ha dthe same issue ( I will probably be the only one)? I am still wearing the binder for the next 3 weeks and there may be a bit of swelling but still I am sad. Hubby says well your butt is alot smaller and you dont have a pouch (he's very loving and encouraging) Please help. Thanks

Oh, dear. I'm sure that is very frustrating.

I don't have an answer for you. Maybe a suggestion that you wait until the binder comes off and and all the swelling goes down before you get too caught up in your size.

Sorry, I know that's not much help.

Swelling is common and will hide the actual results for many months. Something else to keep in mind, there's a big difference between squeezing into a size and fitting into it well. My Tummy Tuck only changed my waist size an inch or so, but it really changed the shape.

Give it time.

Yeh my waist is the same size as was prior to the surgery but my butt definately got smaller and my pants do fit looser on my hips, butt and lower stomach so we shall see, its only been 5 weeks.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
