annie1000 1 Posted February 28, 2009 Hi All, I am scheduled to get banded 3/24 and I am scared to death. I think I can handle it all but the choking. Years ago I quit smoking and while my lungs were healing I woke up choking and gasping for air. I remember how scared I was and now this fear has turned into a problem for me. Can anyone help me with this choking and not breathing thing that happens? Thank You
15 Sept 2008 0 Posted February 28, 2009 I really think it is normal for anyone to be scared - but really to be honest you do have nothing to be scared of it is a real simply operation - I was really scared myself before you know you wake up you are a little sore and think what was I worried about serious don't get yourself worked up as there is nothing to worry about all you are doing is getting yourself very upset just think positive and what you are going to achieve at the end I was lapband on the 15th Sept 2008 and then had to go for surgery for a replace port on the 2nd of Feb 2009 and it all went well believe in me there is nothing to worry about I hope I have given you some relief. Cheers Tanya (AUSTRALIA)
It's_Christine 0 Posted February 28, 2009 Annie100 there was no choking for me ever with my band. Be honest with your surgeon about your fear and I am sure they will also be able to reassure you about this. Good luck!
annie1000 1 Posted February 28, 2009 Thank you for the reassuring words, It is nice to know I am not alone! I think my biggest worry is because I have heard that you wake up in the middle of the night choking on your on saliva. That is really scary to me. I want this more than anything and need to find a way to place these anxieties
