Krista fighting back 0 Posted February 28, 2009 So I'm finally doing this...I have my date set for March 17 with Dr.Ortiz and I'm a little worried that I won't be able to make the changes needed to have a good outcome with the band. I am such an emotional eater...I eat when full all the time. The pre op diet is going to be a really rude awakening!
HeatherO 7 Posted February 28, 2009 So I'm finally doing this...I have my date set for March 17 with Dr.Ortiz and I'm a little worried that I won't be able to make the changes needed to have a good outcome with the band. I am such an emotional eater...I eat when full all the time. The pre op diet is going to be a really rude awakening! You are not alone. Most if not all of us ended up obese and banded because we did not have a healthy relationship with food and eating. Most people have some level of success with banding and a few do not. You are already taking a step in the right direction by understanding you have a weakness with emotional eating. The band will make your hunger go away, but not the need to self-medicate through eating. If you really want to be successful with the band, you need to tackle this situation head on. Start finding supportive people to which you can be accountable. Become active in forums which definitely helps. Try to get some counseling on food addiction or emotional eating. If you put a lot of work and effort in to overcoming the reasons why you are an emotional eater and work on changing your behaviors, there is no reason why banding will not be successful for you. Good luck.
