3 days post op diarrhea

Recommended Posts

My tummy has rumbling and tumbling noises seems like non-stop. Too many close cases where gas turned out to be diarrhea. When will this part end? I ate two Fiber one yogurts and 24 grams of protien today.

If it makes you feel any better, I too am three days post-op and experiencing the same symptoms. I have been taking 1-2 Gas X strips every two or three hours and that has helped the gas and other bodily functions subside a bit. It's extremely annoying, but I'm taking it as a good sign that my body's systems are starting to get back in order! Oh, I have also been taking hot showers and walking to take some of the edge off of the stomach rumbling and gas. They both seem to help.

Good luck!

Check your Protein shakes' nutritional label. The ones I drank had additional fiber. I'm sure being on liquids can also cause things to be a little "loose".

Hi! I was banded on 2/24 and I also have terrible diaherria. I think it's subsiding though. I don't think it's from anything I've eaten (which is next to nothing). Pain medication, the gas used and the fact that someone was tromping around in my intestines seems to be a logical reason for this.

I'm looking forward to this symptom disappearing. :(

I had my initial surgery in 12/07 and I don't remember this happening...but I just had a revision surgery a few days ago and have been experiencing these same symptoms. I'll be honest though, I'm not going to push it. I am staying on very thin liquids all week...even if that continues happening. It's worth it to make sure I heal correctly, you know??

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
