Hi, and welcome to LBT. I've heard of people having problems tolerating cold beverages, especially in the morning, although, I've never had a problem with them. It sounds like you can't tolerate hot or cold. I haven't read that mentioned before, but I'm sure you're not alone. I hope your sensitivity lessens as your body adjusts to your band. Other than that, are you having any other food issues?

Thank you for your reply. The only other problem I have found is I get so tired of chewing that I will just give up and go have a Protein shake.I have actually grown to like them.At first I was having trouble getting enough protein in but I found Protein Shots at our local Walmart that are wonderful. It has 27 grams of protein and is only 110 cal for 2.5 ounces. So if anyone is looking for another source of protein its a good one.I have also learned the hard way that I have to eat SLOWLY.I will be having my first fill on March 11, and Im looking forward to that.Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again.

Just be sure you're not chewing your food until you liquefy it. You want it mushy, but not so chewed that it goes straight through your band. I don't count, but I would estimate I chew good solid food, like chicken, about 30 times. Whatever you do, don't swallow a lump or something that feels fibrous. Your band won't let you get away with that.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
