Sarah F 0 Posted March 3, 2009 Hi everyone - I was banded on the 20th, no BM for about 5 days... I had diarreah (sp?) though. I was STARVING on days 3, 4 and 5 but then it seemed to settle in okay. Got moved to mushy foods on Thursday last week, and have had a much slower weight loss since (about 1/2 a pound). Good luck to you all - the liquids sucked... but it is all part of the healing! mamajude 0 Posted March 4, 2009 Hello: was banded on 2/28 and am recuperating nicely. But incisions are very sore. When I move sometimes feel like they are tearing. Not able to eat much, feel bloated and lots of gas. Who has the realize band?
POMA 3 Posted March 4, 2009 hello, I was banded on monday and the last two days and especially today I am hurting....I have not had a solid bowel movement in 5 days and these liquid shakes although the give me the Protein I need just don't seem to be enough...am I wanting to much to soon???I am taking my vitamens but the hunger today is really bad and even tho the bloating is settleing down I do feel full after just 1/2 shake. my scale shows me down over 14 lbs since monday but I am begining to wonder if I am getting enough thru the shakes....when does the diareah stop???? is there any thing I can take to help me thru these trying days???......on a side note I never realized how much food commercials on tv there are.... thanks for any input.... I was banded 02/24/09 and I keep getting hungry, I just try to keep drinking my carnation instant brekfast every hour or so when I'm hungry and that seems to help. Today I was natious, took meds for it and it's finally going away. I start work on thursday, kinda afraid of the diareah and possible pain with the port kinda bothering me, and me sitting at a desk all day. Hope all goes well. We will all get through this hell soon enough! lol
JulsJourney 3 Posted March 4, 2009 I was banded on the 24th of Feb and went back to work on the 26th. I definitely had bloating and some pain, but got through the days. I go for my follow up today and feel fine, except for some left sided pain in ribs when I breath deeply. The incisions never hurt. I am hungry though and I am looking forward to eating mushy food this week. I lost 10 pounds in the first few days, but nothing since. I am just hoping this thing works! Hey JulsJourney, Two things: I have that same pain under my left-side ribs, particularly when I take a deep breath! It's so annoying and keeps me up at night. I don't think it's gas because those pains have come and gone (thankfully). Would you share with me what your dr. said? And I noticed you're in NJ. If you wouldn't mind me asking, where did you have your surgery?

ShelleyB 2 Posted March 11, 2009 Hi all. Tomorrow makes 2 weeks since my surgery. I have been eating mushies and some real food for about 4 days now. I am doing really well on real food and finally feel human again. I have some restriction, but as the days go by, it seems less and less. The liquid diet is so hard on your system and really runs you down. It's true though that as soon as you start eating food and stop the liquid, the weight loss will slow way down. I am having a some real bad pains in the port area. I was on the couch a few days ago and suddenly jumped up, when I did, I got the worst pain in my port area (under the incision). Now every time I get up or down, I get a shooting pain and feels like my incision is ripping from the inside. I sneezed this morning and it brought tears to my eyes. I hope its nothing, but I am going for a check up tomorrow with my doctor. Otherwise, all is good. The next few weeks before we get our fills, it will be hard and the hunger will come back. We have to be strong and log on to LBT anytime we need support!! I know it has sure helped me through alot!

If you wouldn't mind me asking, where did you have your surgery? I was banded through NJ Bariatrics with Dr. Chou. He is wonderful! He told me the left sided pain is from the air they use to blow up the abdomen. He said it stimulates the same nerve as would cause pain with a heart attack, but not to worry, it goes away with time. I am two weeks out and it is much better, although I still feel it if I cough.
