Hello everyone:

For the past few days I have been very bloated in the afternoons. I am still on liquids so nothing has changed there. It is just that I get major "gas" pain right below the band....But it is not gas per se. I have walked every afternoon for about 45 minutes and it does not go away... Pepcid and Gas-X does nothing for it either....

Any suggestions????

I think I might be experiencing something similar. I'm three days post-op and now that I can finally get liquids down, by the afternoon, it's painful around the band area and then I begin with these really little, but painful, burps. I wish I knew how to stop them. If you figure out the cure, let me know. I don't see my doctor until next week, so we'll see.

What does help, at least a little, is if I sit up straight and try to hold myself that way. I think it lets whatever is going on just kinda go up and out a little easier.

Oh, and I can actually here the gas in my stomach, which makes it ten times worse than just having it. There's the anticipation waiting for it.

Hello

I am three days post op also and experiencing the same thing, I am fine in the morning and by the afternoon Im very bloated, my tummy looks huge and I'm in pain. I did find that walking and sitting up does help, but only a little.

I am also dealing with dizziness in the afternoon, the kind you get when you don't eat, and I wish it would go away. Does anyone else have that problem?

You probably don't have enough of the gasx in you to combat all that gas.

Simethicone (Oral Route) - MayoClinic.com

For symptoms of too much gas:

  • For oral dosage forms (capsules or tablets):
    • Adults and teenagers—Usual dose is 60 to 125 milligrams (mg) four times a day, after meals and at bedtime. The dose should not be more than 500 mg in twenty-four hours.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
