My doctor said we can still drink alcohol but mainly just liquors and mixed drinks that have no carbonation. He said more than likely after the band you will be a light weight but in a way I guess thats good considering how many calories are in alcohol. The main thing we're not allowed to have once banded is carbonated beverages. Everything else depends on you and how serious you want to lose weight. I hope that answers your question and good luck to you!

I drink a glass of wine daily. On the weekends sometimes more. My doctor said I am fine.

You're right about the beer though. I can't drink beer makes me feel awful.

I haven't had a beer since last summer. Since it's winter, I haven't really wanted one, but I know once summer's here again, I'm gonna want one when it's hot out and we're at the lake or camping. I've moved to 7&7's with extra ice. This ice helps to let all of the fizz out of the 7up.

I have vodka and sugar free cranberry juice when I do drink or an occasional glass of wine. Within reason, there are no health dangers drinking non-carbonated beverages but you need to watch the calories if you are still in weight loss mode.

Tropicana has a sugar free orange drink. I mix some coconut rum or cherry rum with it and it tastes very good. Also the vanilla rum makes it like a dreamsicle. But be careful, 2 drinks and I'm done.

I was a big beer drinker!! All kinds, not into wine tasting but bring on the micro-brews!! So sad, I miss it:frown: That's how my husband knew I meant business, when I was willing to give it up forever. I have since switched to white wine because the cold seems more refreshing then red. I don't like the taste of hard liquer but this last weekend someone made me a bloody mary and it was gooooooood!!!

I agree with many of you here. I was a BIG beer drinker. I have not had one in 16 months now. I do miss it in the summer, and even dreamed about drinking it just two nights ago..... But I drink wine, martinis, vodka and cranberry, and I too like bloody marys. I was good about doing it ocasionally, but have been under tremendous stress at work (could lose my job the end of next month) and my adult sons are wearing me thin, so I've been drinking a glass of wine almost every day when I get home. My doctor is concerned with the increase and I guess I am too, but it really hasn't caused any weight gain. I'm to stressed to eat!!! So be careful. I know I'm going to have to put the breaks on sooner or later. I just need the relaxation at the moment.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
