I need HELP!!!!

Recommended Posts

I was banded in November. I was very successful until Jan 1st. I lost 30 pounds in less than 2 months. In the past 7 weeks I have not lost one pound. I exercise daily on the Wii and eat about 800-900 calories per day. I am very careful to eat Protein, but limit the calories as much as I can. I eat fish mainly, one egg in the morning and very little salads as they bother my stomach. I eat fish, sliced tomatoes and zuchini for dinner almost every night. We go out to dinner about once a week and I eat 2-3 oz of poached salmon, cucumber salad and carrots mostly. I am really depressed and do not know what to do. Has anyone out there gone thru this? Please let me know. I appreciate so much your time!

I haven't been banded yet...(June 1), but my daughter has, Feb 2008. I'm going to try to follow in her footsteps on the numbers. She absolutely never ever gets on the scale. For her it's not about the numbers, it's all about how her clothes fit. The only time she knows how much she's lost is when she goes to the doctor. She started at 265-275 approx and a size 20-22. She just recently went to doc and she weighs 180 (she's 5-10), but she's wearing a size 10, close to an 8 (having plastic surgery in three weeks). So don't get hung up on the numbers. Are you seeing in difference in your body and how your clothes fit? And we all probably also know that eating the same things every day and not varying calories and variety is not always the best. My daughter eats a wide variety of foods (no steak), just very little of anything.

So throw the scale away or put it in the garage away from where you can check very often.

Good luck. I'm a horrible weight checker and my scale is going in my storage shed as soon as I have the surgery.

You may have to play around a bit with your calories. The only way that I have been able to lose is by eating around 1500 a day. Try increasing them for a few days, and see what happens. Good luck!

I was banded in October 08 but had been loosing before that. This marks my 9th month and I have lost over 100 pounds total. However, the past six months I have been struggling with the last 20 pounds. I avoid the scale because it does lie like Jack said. I started out a 5x and am borderline 2x now. My doctor gave me a no-no list that consists of softer foods, candy and high calorie foods to avoid. I must confess that I do eat them more than I should. I am only supposed to eat 3 meals a day with no snacking. I snack. So if I am struggling with the band, it's because I am making the wrong food choices. I could count calories and exercise more if I really want to get serious about this. My doctor guarantees that it will work if I follow the instructions and I will be a size 12 in two more years.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
