I know this is a huge thing and I am still determined but as te actual procedure draws closer (tomorrow now!) I am starting to question it more and more. I'm tossing and turning at night and even having dreams about it. I wonder if I should just cancel but then I start thinking about the 20 lbs I've lost (that took 6 monthss to lose!) and don't want it to stop there. Tell me this is normal??!!

I'm sure it's very normal to be apprehensive about any type of elective surgery. Once I make up my mind, and it usually takes me awhile, I try not to look back. That doesn't mean I wasn't nervous about something going wrong though. However, I was determined that I was going to do everything necessary to get healthy again, and I really felt like getting a band was going to be the tool I needed to help me make my goal. If you're truly feeling like you're making a mistake, that's one thing, but if it's just a normal case of last minute nerves, try to think about all the reasons you made this decision and keep thinking positive.

Good luck.

Its very normal, i too went through the same thoughts & i imagine just about everyone did on here too, you are here at this stage because even though we can lose the weight we cant keep it off, before you know it it will be over with very quickly & you will love the new you seeing the weight fall off & staying off..

dont give up on the thing that can give you your life back..i dont regret anything about the surgery maybe a little about the liquid diet for 4 weeks, but a very tiny price to pay to see the weight drop off...

good luck with your surgery & look forward to more posting from you soon

Elle,

I pretty much had a huge freak out the day before surgery. What am I doing, how will this affect the rest of my life, What if, what if, what IF?

I had my surgery yesterday and I am fine and I look forward to the scale going down and staying down!

You'll do great and obviously I think you are making the right choice.

We all get cold feet before a big life-altering decision such as this . . . I sure did. Now that I have lost all my weight, I can honestly say that I don't have any regrets. It is the best decision I ever made for myself.

Good luck!!!

Ok- I did it! In and out today and it wasn't as bad as I was thinking. I am sore but it's manageable. Tomorrow may be a little worse but so far so good.

I had a great nurse at the end who was so positive about the whole thing which really helped my mood leaving too. She was a surgical nurse not part of the bariatric group, but she was great.

I'm sure I'll be around to ask more questions but for now I am gonna try and sleep off the rest of this anesthesia.

Thanks y'all!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
