Hip Hop Abs helped break my Plateau!!!

Recommended Posts

I was at a plateau when I purchased Hip Hop Abs with Shaun T and decided to give it a try despite my coordination challenges. I had also purchased zumba dvd's by Beto Perez and they got here in time for me to begin on this past Monday (February23rd). I have followed Shaun T's 6 day diet challenge which is a high protein/low carb diet to the T. Since Monday, I have lost 2 lbs and will measure loss of inches on Sunday. I was at a plateau for about 3 weeks. If you want to have fun doing cardio, try these programs. You won't be sorry, especially if you like to dance. It's a blast! What's funny is my husband does it and sweats something fierce and he loves it. I do my strength training at the gym 3 days a week for the most part.

Healthforlife: I love Hip Hop Abs! I've had mine for about a year. I just recently had my surgery last monday so I can't do it for a couple more weeks. I'm so glad to hear that, that helped break your plateau. I'll be honest, I'm so scared of hitting a plateau because I know myself, I'll get really depressed. I want to lose me weight so badly that my DH said I'm being too hard on myself. For instance, my doctor said I can start mushies this week so yesterday I had a bowl of progresso Soup (the weight watchers kind) and I was still hungry so I ate some vienna sausages...well I didn't realize just how many calories are in vienna sausages until after I had already eaten them. When I saw it, I started crying! 120 calories per 3 sausages!!:tt2: So basically my 70 calorie soup turned into a 430 calorie lunch! And I'm only on week 2!! I mean I'm still taking in less than 1000 calories a day but I just want to do good on this so bad. So if you have any advice for a freshman bandster I'm all ears!!!

First, congratulations on your surgery. Don't be so hard on yourself. Discipline is our best friend, however, we slip up sometimes and the best thing to do is look forward. You can't change the past, just don't continue to repeat it. Try not to fall below 1000 calories as you will find it difficult to continue losing weight. I'm not sure if you watch the Biggest Loser, but like they say, you must eat to lose and especially if you are working out intensely.

I'm glad to know someone else that has Hip Hop Abs. I think Shaun T is so motivating and if my Husband is doing it too, it must truly be fun. You'd have to know my Husband to fully understand. I love Zumba as well and actually I think I like it better. I combine the Hip Hop Abs with a Zumba daily in addition to what I do at the gym. I'm almost at 6 months post op and I'm close to 50lbs weight loss. I am so excited I can't see straight. By the way, what kind of weight loss did you experience when you began Hip Hop Abs? I'm curious. Take care!

Well when my DH was deployed last year, I did Hip Hop Abs for about 3 months and lost about 20 lbs (combined with the eleptical for 20mins at the gym) and I was only working out 3-4 times a week. After he came home for r&r I was so depressed with him leaving again I fell back into my old habits and gained the weight back. :tt2:

I know it works if you stick to it, and just like you said its a lot of fun and Shaun T is hilarious. I never tried Zumba but I may have to look into that now. I honestly don't watch the biggest loser that much, but can you explain why you shouldn't fall below 1000 calories? And how many should I be taking in at this point considering the only physical activity I can do right now is walk.

Oh and congrats on you weight loss!! 50 lbs in 6 months!! Thats a dream for me! I figured it out that if I do everything like I'm supposed to I could reach my goal by the end of the year.

I've read where women shouldn't drop below 1200 calories. It's really based on your height, weight, age and how active you are. Here is a link where you can calculate what your intake should be. Of course for us lapbanders, the number of calories may be difficult to get in because of the amount of food we can consume at one sitting. This is why more frequent smaller meals are good in my opinion. Calories Per Day Calculator - Basal Metabolic Rate

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
