grocery shopping for the rest of the family

Recommended Posts

I'm on my preop diet and I had to go grocery shopping for the rest of my family today. It was soooo hard. My stomach was growling the entire time. That alone is something I never want to do again; but I guess I'll have to.

"Back home to my "yummy" shake". Sorry, just had to vent.:cursing::thumbup:

The great part about the pre op diet is you usually lose a bunch of weight which is a good kick start. I was so sick of liquids so I bought 5 cookbooks that week. Even though I couldn't eat the food it satisfied me a bit (it's crazy I know)

Thank goodness my husband did the shopping for my preop diet...and bless the man, never ate in front of me. And still it was nightmarish hard!

You deserve a reward!

Wow! That sounds really difficult -- congratulations for making it through without breaking your pre-op diet.

The hardest thing for me on my pre-op was being around other people eating. To get around it, I carried broth bouillon with me so that I'd at least be able to have something. It helped me feel less anxious to have a backup plan.

Also, if your doctor will allow you to have them, try the Isopure Protein drinks (they taste kind of like Gatorade, but not as good)! They have 40-something grams of Protein and, in my opinion, taste a zillion times better than the shakes.

Congratulations on beginning your journey! :)

All the best,

Catherine

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
