Started my pre-op diet and Im so hungry...

Recommended Posts

I am still anxious, but all in all I don't regret it. I know there will days when I do regret it, but I know I have to stand strong and have the willpower. A strong support system is also key. If you ready you will be able to do it. I have those thoughts and there are times when I cry because I am scared of the new life style. But, I am ready. I made the committment, and I know that once I did that, I would be fine. Good luck and only you can decide if it is time for you. Best Wishes!!!!!!

I have been there and I can relate. Please stay strong. Keep your thoughts on the end result, what your goal is. I did the three day, and I truly believe other people should try it to see how hard it really is. I relied on this web site a lot for support. Keep going. It will be worth it. Best Wishes!!!!!!!!!

Hi,

I am so jealous of you too. I started my preop diet three days ago and have two more to go. I can only have low carb shakes, diet Jello, Water and tea. I am also starving and then to think after the surgery on Monday it won't be much better for awhile, but I know I can do it. I just keep looking at the whole picture and this is what I really want. Good luck to you.

granntj: even though the after involves a little pain, the hunger is way different for at least 4 days. I really didn't want to eat a lot. Even now I am just starting to get my desire to eat back. I just realize now that I am on the other side and things get better day by day. Everyone deals with it differently. You may not experience my pain, you may be up and running in three days.

Keep your chin up and look at it in the whole, the benefits to this new journey. I am rather excited about my whole new life ahead of me. I would totally do it again.

Best Wishes!!!!!!!!!!

This may be old news to some of you but it's AMAZING to me instead of mixing my Protein Shakes with Water I'm using the orange and apple juice I'm allowed and mixing my vanilla flavored Protein Drinks with them and they are SOOOOOO much more easy to get down I enjoy drinking them alot more now This is all thanks to my soon to be cousin-in-law who had the surgery a year ago and I was emailing telling her that the shakes taste horrid!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
