Flu or first PB?

Recommended Posts

Today I had yogurt and fruit for Breakfast at 8:30. I had an instance of pain while eating the fruit, but it went away and I felt fine (no stuck feeling or anything). About 40 minutes later, I started feeling sick, mouth watering, etc. I dry heaved about 8 times before some of breakfast came up. I was ok afterwards and was able to keep down lunch. I thought maybe PB, but almost an hour later? What happened?

l know l can't eat yogurt of any type..No matter how slow l eat it, it will come right back up...Even after 30 + minutes...and absolautely no fruit can l eat with it...l don't know if its texture of what. l have evebn tried licking it off the spoon so that it goes down a whole lot slower...no way...Good luck...

Hmmm.... I'd say PB. Weird one but PB.

For me, there is NO doubt if I have the flu. Headache, fever, nausea of a type I never get with blockages and pb. It hasnt hit me since I"ve been banded (touch wood), but I wouldnt mistake it. PB to me is stomach symptoms only without actually feeling what I'd call nauseous or sick.

I usually have the same breakfast every day. Cottage cheese and lite canned fruit, or yogurt and lite canned fruit. Why PB now? I am 11 weeks out. Is it common to PB so long after eating?

Have you had a fill? I had my 4th fill and now can't eat any pork, and chicken gets stuck unless it's really really tiny. I can eat small pieces of beef if it's very tender.

I did PB the other day with a piece of bread. It was whole wheat which I never had problems with. So I am off bread now completely.

I am also at a plateau which is driving me crazy. I hope to break it the next week or so.

I can eat yogurt and pudding with no problem. I do love them both.

Definitely PB. Same thing happened to me a few weeks ago. I threw up and dry heaved about an hour after going out to dinner. I was fine during dinner but once I got home I felt nauseous. 15 minute later up it came (but not much food, mostly liquids), followed by several dry heaves. Then it was over as soon as it started and I felt fine again.

If it was the flu you would still be feeling sick.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
