I am a new member, banded 7/20/05. I weighed 320, 4 weeks later, I am down

24 pounds. I have alot of questions. Mostly about what foods you guys are eating and what are things you cannot eat. I am basically still eating mush and shakes, pretty boring. After this week, I can go to a "soft" diet... whatever that is- How much can you eat at a meal, like 2 oz, or 4 oz, total? Has anyone had a "drink" yet? Help!!!

I am on a fill and some days I can eat a lot less...like 1/2 up an some days I can eat a lot more.

TOday for breakfast-I ate an order of eggs from McDonalds and a piece of sausage.

Today for Lunch- I had about a cup of turkey spaghetti with no noodles--just the sauce and the turkey.

I had restriction right after surgery then no restriction about a month and a half out. Had a fill (1.4 ccs) about 2 weeks ago. My restriction is fairly up and down now. I think I am going to get another fill very soon.

Good luck!

I eat 4 oz three times a day plus a 1-2 oz snack around 4pm and unfortunately I can't seem to cut out the ice cream at night. Still around 1000 calories though. I have been drinking since 6 weeks out of surgery, but the Dr. said I could have been having wine all along.

Has anyone had a "drink?" Well... I had a party this weekend, and we were supposed to have a cocktail taisting contest -- well, after 5 or 9 drinks or so people sort of forgot to actually pick a winning drink.

Does this answer your question?

Vinesqueen- I'm so happy to see you say that its ok to have a drink(or drinks). I don't want to sound like a lush but thats one thing I've been a little worried about. I'm used to having a drink almost every day at night to unwind and with 2 and 3 year old children I need it! But what can you have? I know beer is a no no and I love gin and tonics in the summer, but that has carbonation. Are margaritas ok?:rolleyes

I was told I could drink as much diet coke as I want - does anyone know why carbonation is supposed to be a problem? I know I burp alot more than I used to... teehee.

Nothing would make me give up wine or coffee, lol. I'm no lush either but one of the greatest pleasures in life is a nice quiet glass of chardonnay after a long busy day.

And a couple of good strong coffees in the morning.

I'd rather give up food, honestly!

I am so glad to hear that others think about a "drink" too. I have'nt asked my doctor. I go back for my first fill in 2 wks, Im only 4 weeks post-op. I probably am eating too much. I can eat a cup or so at the time, now. Is that too much?

I was told that after you are banded, you should never drink any carbanated drinks again because the gas could extend your pouch and/or cause slippage. I was really sad about that, I love champagne.:D!

I think Imanana is right. I did hear that actually carbonated drink is not recommended and it's good to hear that wine is okay....

Ok, so I am very curious...how soon can one "drink?" I'm having a party 9 days after my surgery & I'd really like to be able to have a drink with everyone else, but I wasn't sure if that would be pushing it too soon? Thoughts???

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
