YankeeFanatic 0 Posted February 24, 2009 Hello I am 31 years old and from Long Island New York, I have been overweight ever since high school and I am so done with it. Recently I have really been gaining alot of weight and have had some health issues as well. I am over 300 lbs somthing I thought I would never ever let myself get above. I have high blood pressure and am on medication, on medication at the age of 31 that is so sad. I also have sleep apnea and am going this week for a sleep study and am probablly going to have to be on a machine. I am happily married and have two kids one is 3 weeks old (Alexa) and my other is going to be 3 in May (Andrew) I am really scared that I will not be around for them. I went to a seminar about the band last week and today I made the final decision that this is going to be the answer for me to get my life back (as corny as that sounds). I called to make a appointment with a DR in My area (Dr. Vohra). they took all my onformation and I had to gove them a copy of my insurance, I hope that I hear back from them tommorrow with a appointment to meet with the Dr and get the ball rolling on this thing. Well I just wanted to say Hello to evryone and hope I am making the right decision about this
iseethinme 0 Posted February 24, 2009 Hi I had Dr. Vohra do my surgery last April. The office staff is great with the paperwork & getting things done with your insurance. Trust me they will call back as soon as they see your insurance covers weight loss surgery. I also had Dr. Vohra fix an umbilical hernia at the same time he did my LapBand. He is a great doctor. Very Quiet. Unfortunately I have had a hard time losing with the Band. I am Insulin Resistant & they think that is why. YankeeFanatic 0 Posted February 24, 2009 Yea I heard he is good at what he does, how long did it take you from the 1st appointment till you had your surgery
iseethinme 0 Posted February 24, 2009 I had my first appointment in January & I had Surgery in April. It can go as fast or as slow as you want it. You have a checklist of tests & things you need to get done. The faster you get them done the faster you can have surgery. My surgery got postponed 3 weeks too because I got sick. The pulmonologist would not clear me till I got better. Trust me do the tests as soon as you can & you will get a date. He fills up quick. He will most likely give you a tentative date when you 1st meet him. Let me know how it goes.
