First time trying papaya enzyme

Recommended Posts

If you are getting stuck often, you are taking too big of bites and not chewing enough. We are supposed to take bites the size of a pencil eraser. then chew it up until there is nothing left to chew. If you are doing that and still getting food stuck, your fill is too tight. Being too tight is dangerous as well as throwing up often is what causes the band to slip.

when I used to use the papaya, I chewed up 3-5 of them. Sometimes it would make the food come back up, but sometimes it would disolve what is stuck. I haven't had to use them in over a year though because I learned to chew my food well.

OK, I've avoided buying the papaya enzyme because I've been afraid I would 'depend' on them and not slow down or watch what I ate.

Did any of you notice that taking them slowed your weightloss progress?

I know really lame :scared2:... but I just don't want to find ways to 'fight' the lapband... not saying you all are, but I think my mind is too warped.

I did not learn of Papaya until I exceeded my weight loss goal. However, I have not had any problem maintaining my weight WITH the papaya. It does not 'empty' the band, but just helps everything tenderize more so that it does not hurt going through. I suppose you could sabotage yourself, but it would be awfully hard...

I rarely use them. I've been banded for almost seven months, and I've needed them four or five times. I wouldn't use them routinely, because I want my Protein to digest as slow as possible. However, if you make a mistake, try something new that doesn't go down, or something just doesn't go down the way it has in the past, it's a great backup.

Thanks so much for your replies. I took advice and went and bought some. I am really tight and Protein ... the thing that helps me lose the best... is very hard to digest. Especially tuna, salmon, chicken... so last night I intentionally ate tuna to see how it worked. It was wonderful and I did not over eat.

I am still trying to figure out how to use the enzyme. Did you eat the enzyme along with the tuna? I'm wondering that if you eat the Protein along with the enzyme that the enzyme helps to break down the protein?

I only took the papaya tablets if food was stuck and nothing was going down. I usually walked around wtih my hands in the air, stretching upward to try to make the food pass first, before chewing up the tablets. This worked sometimes. By stretching upwards, it opens the area where the food is stuck. If it didn't work, I chewed 3-5 tablets and waited for the food to disolve.

I never use them anymore. I have learned to chew well and nothing ever gets stuck anymore.

Thank you for sharing. I agree. Eating slow and small bites does help but there are unexpected times that food gets stuck. I've been noticing that stress seems to effect getting food stuck. It can be bad or good stress. Good luck to you with your next surgery next month. I will be banded one year next month. Its the best thing I have EVER done for myself.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
