evobuilder 0 Posted February 23, 2009 ok... so the weight is coming off... slowly but surely... and my results are great, however I have hit a problem and have decided that the gym needs to be added to my program. What I am wondering is... how do I get rid of that gut that formed under my belt (not sure what to call it, but my "sub gut" pelvic area does not seem to be going away. It really sucks... I am wearing 38 waist now and if it weren't for this fat in my pelvic area, I would probably be a 36 now. Has anyone battled this, does it go away with continued weight loss? Is there a good excercise to work this area (I heard crunches don't target this area). My goal is to lose another 30 lbs and it may go away with the last 30... but I am not sure and am looking for any feedback I can get. Any thoughts?
bearbandit 0 Posted February 23, 2009 You need to work your lower abs. Start out slow, because these are hard. I would suggest start by lying down on the floor and put your hands underneath your lower back. Lift your legs 90 degrees. Start out slow. It take a lot of work and pain for that matter to build up those muscles. If floor hurts your back try it on the edge of a bed. At my gym we have a leg lift chair, but take it from me dont bother with that until you build up some strength in that region. Also do torso twists and that will help. like they say 'no pain no gain'
Altalomaguy 0 Posted February 28, 2009 Unfortunately your body will decide in what order it will burn fat. Exercising a location does not cause the fat cells in that area to be used up(shrink actually, they never go away) before fat cells in other areas. Exercising the muscle groups in that area can tone it and make it look better. Just keep getting the weight off and don't give up!

You can't "spot reduce" a fatty area by targeting.....You have to lose overall bodyfat. The bad news: That area sometimes requires plastic surgery to correct, even after you're @ goal.
