tackit2 0 Posted February 23, 2009 I am scheduled to have surgery on March 4th getting a little nervous as the time gets closer. I have made the mistake of watching the operation on youtube. I know I really want this but am nervouse. I know it is common but still....I have had laprascopic surgery before and remember the gas pain. Just wondering if any one has tried gasx strips and if so did they help?
mljalways 1 Posted February 23, 2009 I bought them but never used them, I didnt need anything for gas. Good luck.
NCsQueen 0 Posted February 23, 2009 I'll be honest, they didn't do anything for me. They say walking is supposed to help too....that was a little better but I still had really bad gas pains. The thing that helped the most for me was having my husband kinda tap on my back as if he were trying to burp me helped. Good luck and keep in touch!
tiffanygrace 0 Posted February 23, 2009 I'm 4 days post op and I was really nervous to and watched youtube ( I dont think that helped at all!!):hurray: So as far as the gas pains they lasted 3 days. The gasx strips did not help me, the best thing that helped me was gasx chewables and the heating pad on my stomach. also taking small walks a few times each day (just make sure someone goes with you) on the 2nd day when they were worse I took a laxative (miralax) which made them stop. I had read that the gas gets stuck in bowel, but the bowel is not moving normally because the anesthia makes it lazy. Make sure its ok with your doc if do this. It did cause some diarehha.:hurray: all in all they were not that bad.
mzmouse 0 Posted February 23, 2009 The strips didn't help me. Lots of walking did. My husband patted my back a lot, too. That seemed to help as well. Just keep reminding yourself it is only temporary and will be over before you know it!
RestlessMonkey 7 Posted February 23, 2009 Walking must help because I didn't use Gas X and had minimal gas pain. (You know good surgeons remove a good bit of it for you...maybe my surgeon's just an angel in disguise!) If it's trapped gas from surgery gas x won't touch it (that only works on gas in the stomach).
