When Do You Weigh?

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I was just wondering when and how often you guys hit the scales. I start my 2 week pre-op diet tomorrow and I have lost about 16lbs. in my efforts to prepare for the changes that are on the way. I will also track my actual loss on the pre-op but I don't want to be scale crazy. My DH says I already am.;)

I weigh once a week - Friday morning before hot tea or anything else. I used to weigh more often, but it really was driving me crazy. Good luck!! Becky

I weigh once a week, for me that is on Tuesday. That's the day I had my surgery. There are too many variables to weigh every day and then there's the going crazy part too. To give myself a jump start, I have only liquids every Monday..... juice, Protein Shake, Soup, etc. That cleans me up a bit for weigh day. I'm not necessarily advocating this, it's just my thing.

I got scale crazy. I was stepping on every single day.

I've had to put myself on rations. I am forcing myself to step on only once every other week. Maybe it's because I'm at a slow point right now, but I was starting to beat myself up about my lack of progress losing weight almost as badly as I used to about putting it on.

I was starting to feel like I should start a "Scale Addicts Anonymous" group.

once a week. It goes down each time, now that I have restriction. Weighing daily is just frustrating...as long as that one morning each week is lower than the week before, i find I'm happy.

I'm a daily weigher (and always have been, I just used ot watch it go up, lol). I dont let my weight go up by more than a pound or two before I take action (apart from right before period time when I may gain 2 or 3, I am really not prone to Water retention so I know a gain is usually going to stay unless I do something about it and my fluctuations are usually very small). I can see after a big night out, oops, better get back on the wagon TODAY. If I weighed once a week and didnt know I was up a pound or two, then I can guarantee, I wouldnt get working on it.

If I'm up a bit, I know to be careful. If I'm down a bit it motivates me to keep up the good work (hey, you can always afford to be a pound or two lighter right?). If I stay the same then I know I'm on the right track. It doesnt affect me in a negative way at all.

Other people are driven nuts by the up down nature of female weight. Whatever suits, I say.

Once a day, morning only.

Really, who has time to weigh more than that???

When I was first banded I weighed constantly, multiple times a day. I knew that was not good for me, so I started weighing once a week. I found that was to infrequent for me! So I now weigh once a day first thing in the morning. I only record my weight "officially" once a week though! Weighing once a day helps me adjust my eating habits to promote loss.

I have my husband hide the scale and bring it out on Sunday morning. I know I am scale crazy! And even though I know how natural it is for your weight to fluctuate in a given day, my head still plays games with me. I want to avoid "failure" thinking.

Thats a good idea! I am scale crazy!! I weigh every day and get so bummed if it doesn't move. So I think I'll have my hubby hide it too, lol

I would say that I fall under the category of "scale obessed"! So, for that reason, I weigh once a week only. My trash can in the bathroom sits right next to my scale, so to keep it off my mind, I set the trash can on top of the scale and therefore it is out of site and out of mind! If it gets bad, I will put it in the linen closet until weigh in day. I always weigh in the buff and after going to the ladies room! :)

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
