New to this sight...

Recommended Posts

Hi Penny Lane,

I am new to this sight, and it is so huge and overwhelming that I thought it best to narrow my grouping down. I was banded in July of 2008. I have had minimal success so far. I lost 35 pounds by Nov of 2008 and not a pound more since then. HOWEVER, I have not gained either so I shall not complain to loudly.

I am looking for a support group, perhaps even a small team or a mentor to help me stay focused and up beat when I am hardest on myself.:wink2:

I live in Southern California, with my family. I am married with 3 wonderful beautiful children. :)

I look forward to hearing form others, and seeing what steps they have taken to find success.:)

Hi I was banded july 08 also.

I have lost about 12kg and nothing else, most of that was right after the banding. I've had 5 fills and goign for another one 28th June. Hope we can be support for each other.

Hello folks. I also have been banded since July of 2008 and have lost 65 lbs in the first 6 months and struggled ever since. I have issues with continuing to eat the wrong foods but also tell my Doc that I can still eat way too much food. So peeps...don't feel alone and know that it is not easy for most of us. Some of us do better with the execise and eating only what we are supposed to eat. I truly believe that if I focus on those two things alone with Portion Control that I will succeed in additional loss of weight. It's a new day..... don't foget that.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
