Hello to one and all!

I was banded in July of 2008. I have had mild success so far. I have lost about 35 pounds. I have not lost anything since Nov. but I have not gained either so I guess I have nothing to complain about. My Dr has suggested that I join a support group and so here I am.:)

My partner and I had our bands placed on the same day so that we could be a support to each other, but I think we need others outside of ourselves for support.

I live in Southern California. I am married and have three wonderful smart busy children.:)

I look forward to hearing tips, tricks and ideas from those that have gone before and have had success.:wink2:

Hello! I was banded in July also. I have found what has helped me the most is logging everything I put into my mouth on fitday.com. It keeps me honest. I make sure my calories are between 1200-1500 each day. I don't exercise at the moment, but I do plan on it. Between having surgery in Dec. and then a wreck on V-day, exercise isn't in the picture right now.:)

You may want to come to the July Butterflies Master Thread and introduce yourself.

I do believe I went out and joined the July 2008 thread. I have heard before about blogging all I eat on one of the web pages. I will have to give in and just go out to a sight and do it. I have been putting it off I must admit. :)

I am not a big on line kind of person... ah well, everything must change, even ME.:wink2:

Thank you for welcoming me.:)

I promise you it is only reason I am able to have success with this. I watch the amount of food I eat and the website lets me track the calories, Protein, carbs and fat percentages. Honestly, I don't worry about the percentages, but I do make sure I eat at least 60g of Protein a day and really try to eat 80g.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
