laceysmom67 0 Posted February 21, 2009 Hi everybody, First time on website but had band since Oct 2007 and have a question I can't find answer too. Only had 1 fill, 6 weeks after surgery, may have been 3.5 or 4 in 10 cc lapband, PA says 3.5 entered on chart, but she can draw out 4. About 6 months ago had chronic cough for 6 weeks, discovered if was reflux, so they took out .65 to see if it resolved. Did great with cough but only lost 4 pds in 6 months, so went back this week to have fill put back. Short story, was too tight, went back and had same amount of unfill Thur after not being to able to eat or drink for 2 days. Questions-has anybody that had overfill and unfill had problems with feeling of food not moving down and chest ache after unfill. I am hoping this is just because of swelling from overfill and vomiting and will only last another day or so, but didn't feel instant relief like I have seen other people post. Good news, I lost 4 pds in 2 days and since I feel like I just got banded am only able to eat a few bites at of time and am sticking to soft foods. Haven't thrown up since unfill, but did have mild reflux during the night and have not had that before ever.

Any time they mess with my band I swell, takes about a week to get back to normal. For the Reflux I use Prilosec OTC works great.
laceysmom67 0 Posted February 22, 2009 Thanks Bamagal. I will just tough it out for a few more days. I am on nexium for reflux, but have never had any symtoms except for coughing at night. I had PB's the last 2 nights, so I will check and see if I can take Prilocsec along with the Nexium and spread them out over the day.
allydd 0 Posted February 22, 2009 I just had the same thing happen to me on Tuesday. I went in for the fill and about an hour and a half later started vomiting up foam. Couldn't eat or drink anything that night and was up all night "foaming" every 45 minutes or so. I went back the next morning and had some taken out but I still couldn't eat or drink without having this horrible gas pain, like something was stuck in my chest and couldn't move. I guess the swelling made it impossible for me to burp. I was considering going back but on Friday, I was finally able to get a Protein shake down even though it took me hours. From then on, I've had success with food and no more signs of that gas pain in my chest. I'm thinking that the irritation and swelling on top of a completely empty stomach wouldn't allow the air to escape. Once I slowly got something back into my stomach, the problem was solved. Hope it gets better for you too!
laceysmom67 0 Posted February 23, 2009 Thank you Ally. My pain has subside a lot today, and I was also able to get a Protein Shake down. I think it was like you said and just swelling, I guess we all have to learn by doing.
jillrenee15 0 Posted February 23, 2009 I had a similar experience in January, the pain you are feeling is probably your esophagus where it empties into your stomach spasming from the whole works being sore and irritated. Kind of a rhythmic pulsing pain. Comes and goes every few minutes. The only thing to fix it is a little unfill so everything will go down ok again, without your esophagus having to push so hard to cram it into your smaller stomach. Give it a couple of days. Mine finally went away about 3 days after I had a slight unfill. It was still sore though for about a week or so. Drinking cold liquids and eating regular food still was uncomfortable for that whole week. Keep sipping warm fluids to help soothe.
