Not one Glitch!!!........ surgery March 19th

Recommended Posts

it seems like forever, and yet so quick that i've come to this point. I made the decision to look into Bariartric Surgery last march, had my informative meeting in May, began classes in July..... got accepted to the Prep Study (more intense weekly visits with a diet coach assigned to me) in August. Did all the testing i needed then some. I have a personal family doctor that is so supportive and proactive in my care. Turned into the Insurance for approval on February 11th,...... heard that i was approved February 16th and scheduled the day on February 19...... I am having Surgery on March 19th at Magee Women's Hospital in Pittsburgh Pa with Doctor Anital Corcoulas.... i was in no hurry.... learned so much... lost about 15 pounds from last FEb to Jul and lost about another 25 lbs since August...... I didn't have a date in mind.......and if it would have taken another few months to get my date.......then i figured that God wanted me to wait.....

I am so scared and so excited all at once..... and i am going to make a big effort in not experiencing the "last supper syndrome"....... wow its almost here

Congrats!! I too started looking into this last march! And it all just seemed to fall into place so quickly. I was banded yesterday and it still feels like a dream! I can't believe i've mad it this far and I'm so excited to keep going forward. Congrats!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
