Can anyone help get me back on track

Recommended Posts

I just want to know how to get back on track. I've been banded for about 1 year and have only lost 30 pounds. I don't know what to eat when. I've had 3 fills and I still can't get on board. Any help anyone can give me I'm open to about anything. I made an appt with a nutic. but she can't see me for 2 months. I'd like to get back on track before then. My Dr. who performed my surgery has retired so i have no one. My new dr. tell me to get going and get back on track i just don't know how??:tt2::confused:

Can you give me a break down of what you are eating daily and how many calories and exercise?

rhawkes, I'm sorry things haven't been going well. It sure doesn't help that you're doctor retired, and your new one doesn't sound all that supportive.

Do you feel like you have good restriction with your band? Also, how is your diet? Are you eating good healthy solid Proteins and veggies? Are you measuring your meals? If your able to eat big portions of healthy (non-slider foods), your band is still loose and not helping you reduce the amount of food you're eating.

A lot of people track their foods. I haven't started doing that yet, but many people swear by it. There's several online sites to help you with that. One of them is Daily Plate. Calorie Counter, Diet Tracking, Food Journal, Nutrition Facts at The Daily Plate

Anyway, those are the first things I'd be looking at.

Good luck, and please come back and ask specific questions, if you have any.

Sounds like you could use another fill. I have had 5 fills and still am not at my sweet spot. I do better, but I feel I could eat a little less. Log all your food intake and calories. Also do the 5 day pouch test

Surgical Weight Loss 5 Day Pouch Test

It will help you get back on track. Good luck. Keep posting so we can continue to help you.

Check out the thread at the end of this post, and pick out a few people who are doing well with their weight loss. You should get some good ideas of what to eat. For instance, you mentioned you're eating Soup, and while there's nothing in the world wrong with soup, it's not particularly a good bander choice for a satisfying meal because it goes right through your band.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
