Spring Break Banding- March 12!

Recommended Posts

I am getting my band on March 12th. I go for my pre-op appointment on March 4th. I decided to start a liquid diet today (a bit less than 3 weeks pre-surgery) in order to get the hang of it. I want to do the best that I can, and getting control of my addiction to carbs and sugars will be a challenge. I am excited and nervous at the same time.

I've been drinking the right amount of Water and it's been killing me at work. I teach, so getting to the bathroom is a real challenge. I find myself hanging out at the door of my classroom just to find someone to watch my kids while I run to the restroom. Everyone at school knows what's going on, and they've been really great about helping me out. I think my biggest problem will be weaning myself off of the cafeteria food FOREVER!

I hope to hear your banding tales!

Krista

I teach also, and I don't get enough Water in due to the bathroom issue. Not eating the cafeteria food for me wasn't an issue (it isn't THAT good). The lunch time issue is "no duty free" and only about 15 min left after I get the students seated. So, for lunch every day I eat/drink a Campbells soup-at-hand. You just drink it. It isn't enough calories, so I eat a chewy Protein added granola bar while I watch the kids at recess. Being banded and teaching has been easy for me. Good luck!

Hi, I'm also being banded on the 12th. I started my preop diet before I was suppose to also and have lost about 5 lbs from doing that. I have to start 2 weeks before surgery and the diet consists of 4 Protein Shakes throughout the day, alot of Water or crystal light, popsicles SF or Jello, and one meal for dinner; 4 oz of meat then a salad or vegtable. It was really tough the first few days and I thought I would lose my mind!!! It got better (sort of) as the week went on. The hardest part is living with my three sons who can eat anything and not gain one pound. It's good you have people at the school to help you. Hang in there; I'll be thinking of you.

I have my surgery on March 1st. My pre-op appt is on Feb. 16th. I have to go by myself since my hubby is on business travel. I have already pre-registered at the hospital and go all my bloodwork. Will be nice to have others to go through this adventure along with me. I did go grocery shopping tonight. Got some sugar free Jello, Protein Shakes, etc. even though my doctor has not yet told me to go on a liquid diet pre-surgery yet. I thought I would try it. They have told me that I would be on a liquid diet for 6 weeks after surgery. Does that seem like a long time? Seem like that I have read other posts that indicated they were able to move on to solid foods quicker.

I am also a teacher. Spring break bander too..on either March 15th or 16th. Bathroom....I agree! I think only teachers get that! Frito pies, Chili cheese nacho day, chicken nuggets/potato smiles or mashed potatoes...yup weaning off cafeteria was also hard for me.

We can do it!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
